Dates

 

• Applications to participate in the competition will close on 30 June 2019 and will be on a first-come first-served basis.  The Committee reserves the right to stop accepting applications once the number of places have been filled.

• Accepted applicants will be informed of their allocated session times by 15 July 2019.  

• All competition sessions will be held on Sunday 4 August.

Repertoire Regulations

 

• The repertoire presented must adhere to the time limit specified in the Categories Information above. The performance will be stopped and marks deducted from the competitor’s score if the performance exceeds the total allocated time.

• Competitors may only present one work in each category of the competition. 

• Competitors are permitted to perform a single movement or select movements from a multi-movement work as long as it does not exceed the maximum total duration allowed for the category.

• Competitors for the piano sections must only present solo works (i.e. no concerti or accompanied works).

• A competitor may compete in more than one category if performing on a different instrument.  However, no competitor may perform more than once in each category.    

• Please provide two photocopies of music marked “For 2019 MIPSF Adjudication Only” on the day of competition. For copyright reasons, the photocopies will be destroyed after the competition and will not be returned to the competitor.

 

General and Judging Rules

 

• In these rules and regulations, the word “Committee” shall mean “The Management Committee of the International Academy of Musical Arts”.

• The Committee reserves the right to determine the status of any competitor and the application and interpretation of these rules.

• In the event of insufficient or large entries, the Committee reserves the right to combine or divide sections accordingly.

• The Committee reserves the right to amend the program at any time, such as varying the order of competitors or categories, alter the competition date, or replace jury members due to unforeseen circumstances.  

• Non-piano students requiring an accompanist will need to arrange their own accompanist for the competition.

• The decision of the jury is final and cannot be disputed.

• Jury members are not allowed to judge former or current students (excluding masterclass and festival participation). In the event that a former or current student of a jury member is competing, the competitor will be judged by the remaining jury members.

• Competitors are not permitted to speak to jury members during the competition. Breaking this rule may lead to disqualification by the competitor.

• The International Academy of Musical Arts respects diversity and the competition does not discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or political association.

• The competitor grants the International Academy of Musical Arts broadcast rights to film, photograph, record, broadcast, live stream, reproduce, transmit, and show via different media platforms and channels for the purpose of promoting the current and future programs in Australia and internationally.  

• Competitors and people in the audience may not film, photograph, record, or broadcast the performances in the competition without prior written consent from the Committee.
